In the Final Beta, giving Neighbors outfits in Petit Planet included a conversion step at the Neighbor Dressup Machine inside Glenn’s Goods. You could exchange eligible clothes for Neighbor-friendly versions using a conversion token, with Dough available to cover a shortfall. The clothing still had to support the intended Neighbor. An item that your Planet Tender can wear is not automatically compatible with a resident, even when it looks like the right size or shape.
The pre-launch presentation confirms helping Neighbors put together outfits. The compatibility details below come from the documented beta system; the Final Beta ended on October 19, 2026, so check the released item's own details before buying for a particular character.
Inspect the clothing item before buying

Look for the item's Neighbor Match information when that detail is available. It is a stronger signal than guessing from the outfit's appearance or the shop mannequin.
Beta discussion records clothing with compatibility labels, including size-like categories. The exact relationship between every label and every character is not established here. Do not treat an informal small/medium/large guess as a complete compatibility chart.
The useful distinction is whether the clothing explicitly supports Neighbor use. If you can only see that it equips on your own character, that answers a different question.
| Check | What it establishes |
|---|---|
| Your character can equip the item | Planet Tender wearability |
| Item has Neighbor Match information | A Neighbor-specific compatibility field exists |
| Similar clothing fits a resident | A reason to inspect the new item, not a guarantee |
| Item looks the right size | Appearance only |
| The exact resident accepts the outfit | Compatibility for that resident and item |
Convert eligible clothes at Glenn's Goods
The Final Beta added the Neighbor Dressup Machine inside Glenn's shop. Its purpose was to turn supported clothing made for your humanoid character into a version a Neighbor could wear.
- Identify the clothing item you want to use and check its Neighbor compatibility.
- Enter Glenn's Goods and find the Neighbor Dressup Machine.
- Select the eligible clothing and inspect the Neighbor version offered.
- Check the conversion-token requirement. The beta allowed a token shortfall to be covered with Dough.
- Complete the conversion shown by the machine, then check the result before arranging the Neighbor's outfit.
This conversion did not require a real-money payment in the demonstrated beta. No exact token name, universal conversion price, or token-earning schedule is established here, so use the machine's actual requirement rather than a fixed cost from another item.
The machine explains why buying a wearable for yourself and expecting it to work immediately on a Neighbor can fail. Ownership, conversion, and compatibility are separate checks.
Keep outfit changes separate from ordinary gifts
Neighbors can receive gifts, and they can also participate in outfit changes. A gift interaction by itself does not establish that any wearable item will become the character's equipped outfit.
First decide what result you want. If you want to increase Bond, use the character's actual gift preferences. If you want a different appearance, check clothing compatibility and the outfit interaction. A liked object and an equipped garment are different outcomes.
This also prevents spending a scarce clothing piece merely because its color resembles a Neighbor's preferred gift tag. That preference does not prove an equip option.
Story characters have different restrictions
In the documented system, Mobai, Glenn, Mors, Trixie, and Elsasani are base story characters rather than ordinary invited residents. The normal resident features should not be assumed to apply to all of them.
Elsasani is an explicit exception for outfit editing after becoming your planet's greeter when the Station is created. The same exception is not established for the other base staff. A shop display using a familiar character model does not prove that the story character can wear the displayed purchase.
Choose the resident, then choose the garment
A practical order is:
- Identify the specific Neighbor you want to dress.
- Inspect the clothing's Neighbor Match details where available.
- Distinguish the outfit action from giving a normal Bond gift.
- Confirm the visible equipped result before buying similar pieces for other residents.
A full size chart and list of every compatible garment are not established here. The conversion machine supplies the documented beta route; follow the eligible items it actually offers. The main safeguard is to avoid using your own wardrobe compatibility as a substitute for the Neighbor field.
A successful outfit does not establish every later behavior
After changing a Neighbor's appearance, check the result on that character. There is no confirmed rule here for how long every outfit persists, whether the character switches clothes automatically, or whether a particular garment is compatible across the entire cast.
The supported result is narrower: compatible clothing can be used for Neighbor outfits, while base staff and individual items can have restrictions. Keep those checks attached to each purchase rather than generalizing from a single successful change.
